The All New Tesla Roadster 2.5

In conjunction with the opening of its two newest stores in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Newport Beach, California, Tesla has unveiled the fourth major production iteration of its only current product, the Roadster. Dubbed the Roadster 2.5, in proper Southern California fashion, the revised electric sports car gets a nose job and fanny lift.

Up front, the latest Roadster gets a reshaped grille similar to the one found on the Model S that reflects Tesla's design language going forward. At the back, a new rear bumper now incorporates a diffuser element, although it's not known if it actually generates any downforce. Inside, the seats have again been reworked to improve comfort, and the finish of surfaces has been improved to better reflect the car's price tag. A seven-inch touch screen display with a backup camera is available as an option, and it should viewed as a welcome addition for Roadster drivers to protect that new rear end.

There don't appear to be any powertrain changes to the 2.5 and pricing has stayed the same. Some of the upgrades will apparently be available to current owners that want to retrofit their cars, however. Want to learn more? Visit them online at TeslaMotors.com

2011 Porsche 911 RUF RGT-8

Almost 10 years ago, RUF began to fill niches in the market with the then-new water-cooled Porsche models. The first RUF RGT was based on the Porsche 996. It used the 3.6 liter engine from the GT3 as the base. The engine delivered 385 hp. The car itself ran on 18-inch RUF alloy wheels and the narrow body was optimized aerodynamically. The vehicle was fitted with a discrete but functional integrated roll cage.

In 2004 the story continued, this time based on the Porsche 997. The car was easily recognized by the screwed-on carbon-composite fender extensions on both the front and rear. The powerplant was a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter unit delivering 445 hp. A dry-sump oil system ensured sufficient lubrication even under tough racing conditions. A roll-cage was fitted as standard ensuring a high level of passive safety. The RGT was supplied with a chassis optimized for the race track and ran on 19-inch alloy wheels.

1

Now the time is right for RUF to announce the next generation of RGT, the RGT-8. This spectacular prototype vehicle is powered by a completely new RUF designed V-8 engine with a "Flatcrank” crankshaft. Four valves together with multipoint fuel injection ensure optimal mixture conditions while the dry-sump system supplies the necessary lubrication. The lightweight engine has a very compact design, has a capacity of 4.5 liters, and delivers 542 hp at 8,500rpm and a maximum torque of 369 lbs.-ft. at 5,400 rpm.

At all stages of the design process, keeping the engine compact and low in weight were the priority. The result is a total engine weight of less than 440 pounds. A six-speed gearbox with shortened gear-shift movement transfers the power to the rear axle. To ensure the best adhesion characteristics, the RGT-8 is supplied with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires running on 19-inch RUF forged alloy wheels utilizing a single central retaining nut. The powertrain is rounded off with sturdy ceramic brakes as standard for optimal braking.

The current Porsche 911 forms the basis for the RGT-8 chassis, which is then further optimized with bodywork components from RUF. As always, an integrated roll-cage is supplied delivering increased chassis stability and passive safety. In addition, it is pleased to offer a Frere package which enhances the standard vehicle with special front fenders, nose, and dashboard components. The styling was inspired by the 550 Coupe with which Paul Frere, the Belgian race driver, won the best of class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1953. Production of the RUF RGT-8 is planned for 2011.

370Z Hydro By Marangoni

Even thought this came out in December of 2009, this is the 2010 show car of the Italian tire manufacturer Marangoni, which is styled by TRC Italia. Called the 370Z-Hydro, the car features a body kit inspired by Nissan GT-R consisting of a revised bumper with large air intakes at front, side skirts and a carbon rear wing and diffuser as well as carbon mirrors.

The Hydro in the car’s name refers to the new Hydro-drive-system installed on the engine, which they say reduces the emissions and fuel consumption. The concept is that by injecting a kind of catalytic gas into the intake manifolds, unburned hydrocarbons will be cut to almost zero! But the main feature of this 370Z is the reason it’s made in the first place! To show off Marangoni’s new “M-Power Blue” 20-inch high performance tires wrapped around 10 double-spoke Oxrock Black rims.

The 370Z-Hydro also has a KW coil-over suspension system which drops it by 4 inches, and KW HLS hydraulic lift system which can raise the front axle by 5 inches. It is fitted with 400mm brake discs and 12-piston calipers as well. For the interior, you get sport seats and instrument panels with leather and alcantara upholstery and blue trimming for the dashboard.

The Malibu Corvette Is Back!

The Malibu Corvette "Limited" Sport-V always hinted that the Malibu Corvette boat wouldn’t be available forever. Finishing production in late 2009, nearly three years and 50 boats later, the Malibu Corvette Limited Sport-V has earned the awards and world-renown recognition befitting a cultural icon. But, after its successful turn out, it's back for an updated 2010 model!

And while a few production Corvette boats are available at select Malibu Boats dealerships, most of these boats found homes. Those owners have their rare piece of custom art as well as the satisfaction that comes with obtaining a true collectors' item. Produced from December 2007 through November 2009, the Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V was the fastest production towboat ever created. The Corvette truly embodied Malibu Boats "Pushing Limits" mantra. The 505hp Corvette LS7 that came standard in the Z06 Edition Malibu Corvette pushed the success of this Malibu boat even further.

But this innovative performance machine is more than power and speed. Dubbed "the Corvette that runs on water," this Malibu boat is truly a Corvette. The Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V was the epitome of Corvette with a long list of powerfully innovative features: a patented power wing windshield, authentic Corvette high-back seats, an 8-speaker Malibu-Rockford Fosgate Stereo System, rear vents styled after the Corvette taillights and designed for through-hull ventilation, the signature Corvette "cove" and a hood modeled after the car, which opened to reveal a specific storage center and the core of the stereo system.

Revealed! The Hennessey Venom GT

You know most of the story already and by now, you're well aware of the specs and the stats, but let's lay it out for you one more time. The Venom GT is Hennessey's latest venture at building an international-spanking supercar, combining a British chassis with an all-American powerplant.

For Hennessey, it's all about bundling maximum power into an incredible handling package. "The Venom GT is the supercar that I have always wanted to build for myself. I wanted to combine the best engineering and the best technologies with the best materials." And judging by the results, he's pretty much nailed it! The platform is the Lotus Exige, which gets chopped, stretched, and reinforced at a production facility in Silverstone, England. Back in Sealy, Texas, the Hennessey Performance shop takes the ZR1's supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V8 and modifies it to one of three tunes.

The base model has 725-horsepower and 741 pound-feet of torque at 3,200 rpm, running on 91-octane and is the same fitting as the HPE700 Camaro. Two twin-turbocharged versions are in the works, one running on 93-octane and putting out 1,000 hp and 900 lb-ft of torque, with another 109-octane version outputting 1,200 hp and 1,100 lb-ft of torque for customers with an overblown bank account and a undeveloped sense of self-preservation.

Hooking up that prodigious power to the rear wheels is a Ricardo six-speed gearbox with a programmable traction control system to allow an estimated sub-three-second sprint to 60 and prevent unfortunate farming expeditions. But Hennessey didn't want to make this a track-only tool. "I wanted to have a road-legal car with air conditioning and satellite radio, and that had a power-to-weight ratio that is greater than just about every race car short of a Formula One car. I wanted a car that could be taken to Cars and Coffee and be parked with a Pagani Zonda on one side and a Bugatti Veyron on the other. And the entire crowd of car guys would be looking at my car instead of the other two."

While an Exige front clip might not provide the crowd-stopping presence he's after, the bodywork is plenty slippery, and Hennessey has shelled out a few ducts for computational fluid dynamic (CFD) testing, which combined with the active and adjustable rear wing, road-molesting Michelin PS2 tires and fully-adjustable suspension ensure things stay sticky when topping out somewhere north of 200 mph. And stopping the 2,400-pound carbon fiber and aluminum beast are a set of 15-inch carbon ceramic rotors, with six-piston calipers in front and four-piston units in the rear.

Hennessey is limiting production of the Venom GT to 10 units a year, and according to the company, four orders have already been placed. When asked what kind of owner he envisions for the VGT, Hennessey says, "The Venom GT buyer is the kind of person who has a lot of choices in their daily lives, but in a world with 200+ Veyron's, they want to be one of the few who owns a Venom GT. Some of our clients view cars as they would clubs in their golf bag. When they feel like reaching for a big hitter, the Venom GT will be there ready to deliver as much performance as they could ever ask for."

In addition to taking delivery of this exclusive mutant machine, each buyer will receive a one-day training program at a track in either the UK or the US, with instruction coming from one of Hennessey's own test drivers. So what's all this kit going to cost? Well, Hennessey tells us that the entry-level model will start somewhere north of $600,000, with the twin-turbo scaling larger both in output and price. An official announcement should come soon.

BMW S1000RR Tuned To 210hp

BMW tuner Van Harten Performance, from Holand, recently got its hands on a brand new BMW S1000RR superbike. Apart from turning it into what looks to be a carbon fiber edition, it can also pass as being the first to take the S1000RR beyond the 200bhp barrier. And I’m not so sure you’ll believe us when saying they managed to squeeze 210bhp out of German inline-four by only adding a four-in-one Akrapovic exhaust system. But it is the truth and it really shows this bike’s tuning potential.

Carlsson's Exclusive C25 Coupe

The C25 is an impressive beast, and quite DRM. Under the hood is a Carlsson-built 6.0-liter biturbo V12 putting out 753 horsepower and 974 lb-ft of torque, good for a conservatively listed 3.7 second sprint to 100 km/h and a top speed of just under 220 mph. To also appeal to potential clients, Carlsson has made exclusivity a top priority, limiting production to just 25 units and selling only one example in each country where they're available. As is proven by the car you see here, customers can choose from a near-limitless range of exterior and interior color combinations. Personally this is definitely one Mercedes I can see me driving.

The Lotus Evora Carbon

Painted a pearlescent white, the new Evora Carbon concept features body panels, roof, diffuser and front splitter that have all been replaced with carbon fiber components pulled from the FIA GT4-series coupe. The aluminum chassis and powertrain are carried over from the production version Evora. The concept comes on Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, 235/35R19 front and 285/30R19 rear, mounted on 19-inch forged alloy rims. The cockpit of the Evora Carbon is finished in perforated leather, matte gray Alcantara and of course carbon-fiber.

Porsche 918 Spyder Concept

Magpul Ronin 1125R

Although Buell doesn’t build bikes any more, their 1125R half-faired superbike remains a machine with great tuning potential for custom builders and we’ve found a good one after Harley Davidson decided to kill the Buell brand just last year. The Magpul Ronin 1125R, is an experimental bike with some pretty amazing experimental design.

I think the photos speak for themselves on this one. Because, little information is available right now on this project and we also hear we can’t really hope to expect a production version as this is pretty much just a demonstration of innovative design in the custom motorcycle industry.
